The NA P51 has enough column inches out there devoted to it that I won’t waste our time by trying to further explain the legendary status of the vehicle you’re looking at. This
“barn find”
partially hangar-preserved Mustang appears to have been in sitting through a war or three and currently sports a gold and black civilian livery.
In fact, with a last air worthiness date of January 1958 - stallion SN # 44-84896 would likely consume a small fortune to get back in the sky. Hey, who knows - as this War Bird is now part of an estate sale, maybe now is the right time to pick up that Mustang you’ve been looking for without breaking the bank. After all, it even comes with a spare engine. With a rebuild cost of well in to six figures for the Rolls Royce Merlin alone - here’s hoping this thing doesn’t end up in the scrap yard or a public park as a forgotten kiddie climb toy.

Really doesn’t look to be in too bad shape considering. These are valuable enough that I’m 99% this will get bought by somebody willing and able to get it airborne again. Whether that is someone looking to restore/preserve it as a warbird or someone intending to bring it to Reno is another question, but I would be shocked if this isn’t flying again in the future.
